So this past Saturday was a blast !! I had so much fun out there with everybody that came out to the event. I remember showing up to the Staples Center to see hundreds of riders having fun and ready for a fun filled day of riding. I will be making a video of this event so be prepared for that. I want to thank all my cameramen that came out to help film this event because without all of your help I would not have been able to do this to the scale I wanted to. I want to encourage anyone who was at this event to email me their photos and or video clips to mashafix@gmail.com along with their information so I may credit you for your work if it is used. I also want to thank all of the Sponsors that helped make this day happen. My intent was to make this day dedicated to all the kids out there that support Mashafix.com and everything I do. Without all of you out there showing your support for the blog this past year I do not think I could have kept it going so I thank all of my fans out there. I plan on throwing more and more events so be prepared for that because it is all about giving back to the cycling community in which I love so much. So stay tuned to Mashafix.com for more updates and photos ! #YOUKNOWWAZGOOD

RED BULL RIDE + STYLE 2012 – fixed freetyle invites

This had to be one of the best times of my life last year and I can not wait to be back in SF for this event next week. This is the biggest race/competition for fixed gear riding in the world that will showcase the best riders in the world. Be sure to make it out for this event and if you are interested in competing in then be sure to read below for how to make that possible. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE RIDERS !

Red Bull has announced the riders for the 2012 Ride + Style Fixed Freestyle competition. Check out the list below.

San Francisco, CA (April 11, 2012) — On April 28, Red Bull Ride + Style will put the world’s fastest and most stylish fixed gear riders on center stage in Justin Herman Plaza for the second year in a row. Red Bull Ride + Style, a collision of fixed gear biking and urban contemporary art, features riders facing off in both track and freestyle competitions with the obstacles designed and decorated by local San Francisco artists. A fixed-gear bicycle is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast — the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving. This allows a cyclist to stop without using a brake and also to ride in reverse. In 2011 the event brought together more than 50 invited riders from both coasts, including riders from fixed gear meccas San Francisco, Portland, New York, and Japan. This year non-invited riders will have a chance to qualify for the track portion of the event at the Red Bull Minidrome.

The 2012 event boasts a redesigned course for both racers and fixed freestyle riders, featuring artwork from the area’s top artists: Chor Boogie, APEX, Max Ehrman and Jet Martinez. The artists will be collaborating to bring the ramps to life by adding their own style to each feature, utilizing their fine art, graffiti and mural styles to give the course a new look. Each artist is individually established – such as Jet Martinez, the first “artist in residence” at Facebook – but for Red Bull Ride + Style, they will be collaborating to create something that represents their collective creativity. More information about both the artists and the riders can be found at:
www.redbullusa.com/ridenstyle

Riders interested in participating in the track portion of the Red Bull Ride + Style will have an opportunity to qualify on Thursday, April 26th at Mezzanine (444 Jessie Street) on the Red Bull Minidrome. The fastest 15 times will be invited to face off in Saturday’s event against the top ten racers from 2011. The Red Bull Minidrome is a shrunken version of a velodrome, a traditional arena for track cycling. Consisting of a steeply banked oval track with two 180-degree circular bends connected by two straight sections, the Red Bull Minidrome delivers velodrome racing conditions in the smallest possible dimensions.

Due to the expected volume of qualifying riders, a pre-registration sheet will be available at the Chrome retail store (580 4th Street). Riders will be able to sign up for a qualifying time slot and fill out the appropriate paperwork starting on April 20. There is no entry fee for the qualifier (or Red Bull Ride + Style).

I am so stoked for this !!!!

San Francisco, CA (February 8, 2012) — On April 28, San Francisco’s Justin Herman Plaza will once again serve as the setting for the collision of fixed gear biking and urban contemporary art known as Red Bull Ride + Style. After a highly successful inaugural kickoff in 2011, the event returns even bigger and better for 2012.

Red Bull Ride + Style features fixed gear riders facing off in both track and freestyle competitions, with the obstacles designed and decorated by local San Francisco artists. In 2011 the event brought together more than 50 riders from both coasts, including riders from fixed gear meccas San Francisco, Portland, New York, and even Japan.

The 2011 top ten finalists in both categories will be automatically invited back to this year’s event. While the remaining spots in freestyle will be invite-only, the race portion of the event will consist of a qualifying round the night before the main event. This will serve as an open invitation to all hopefuls to lay down their best time in order to qualify for the big show in Justin Herman Plaza on April 28.

This year’s racetrack is being designed with input from selected participants from the 2011 Red Bull Ride + Style event. PISSY GOES DOWN !

PHOTOS VIA – PROLLYISNOTPROBABLY
Corey “PISSY” San Agustin went down today while riding in San Marcis. Via JOHNPROLLY. According to PROLLY Corey was attempting to do a rail gap to firecracker down this stair set in which hey clipped the rail sending him 8ft down to a sidewalk busting his chin and causing him to have internal bleeding of his liver sending him into surgery. Let’s all hope Corey recovers from this nasty fall. It’s sad to see stuff like this. From what looked like a busted up chin turned into something much worse. Let’s this be a heads up to all of you riders out there to be careful and try and use a helmet to help reduce injury. In this case a helmet would not have mattered so much but it’s still important to wear regardless. Get well soon Corey ! As a friend I am praying for your recovery !!!!
