sMc Weekend: Omar & JBall from JBall on Vimeo.

Omar and JBall are two of the hottest young riders out there right now in the fixed freestyle scene. it has been about 7 months since I watched Omar “come into his own”, at the Flash Comp in Long Beach. I knew when I saw him ride that he would progress to a level beyond many other riders his age are at now. Besides their riding both JBall and Omar are two of the most humble and respectable people you will meet in the Fixed Freestyle world. This new edit from them just shows you how much fun they have when they go out and ride. I really like the 2:17 mark where Gabe Winawer throws in some old school flatland in the mix. I call these tricks “filler”, by this I mean these are tricks that riders can or need to start doing more in between those “big tricks” they throw. It is about connecting tricks and making them into lines. Either way this video was rad and they guys are just simply killing it right now.

BOMBTRACK THAILAND // welcome to the team

Welcome to BOMBTRACK from The Lens on Vimeo.

I just had this new video from BOMBTRACK sent over and I am sure happy to see that Mean from thailand has finally finished his welcome to the team edit. This kid has some great style and such a smooth flow to his tricks. I am very anxious to see more from him in the near future, but until then I would like to congratulate Mean on becoming the first rider from Asia to represent BOMBTRACK.

MAN UP put up or shut up

PUT UP OR SHUT UP. _deadwood_ Presents MAN UP! from _deadwood_ on Vimeo.

Tomorrow is gearing up to be quite an event after watching this video from Kenny Arimoto showing off some of the epic street spots they are going to hit up in tomorrows competition. I really can not wait to see the footage from this event. I was planning on going but because of other reasons I am not going to be able to make it out to the event. So if you are in the Palo Alto, Ca. area be sure to get out and show some support if not compete yourself.

ROAD RUNNER x PBR

Now this HIP POUCH by ROAD RUNNER is just way to awesome to pass up. I know I have been a Pabst Blue Ribbon drinker for quite some time and I know many of you out there have been as well. So if you are in the market for a new HIP POUCH then I suggest you check out the ROAD RUNNER STORE and pick yourself up one of these before they are all gone.

CONCEPT BIKES WELCOMES jordan alatorre

Concept Welcomes Jordan Alatorre to the Team from Jordan Alatorre on Vimeo.

As Concept Bikes is still technically a “Concept”, I do know that Jordan has been enjoying his Concept prototype which was HAND MADE IN THE U.S.A. by DESTROY which is a GRASSROOTS company based out of Northern California. Now enough talk about the frame and more talk about Jordan’s riding. If you were to go back and watch each video Jordan has made since he started making videos you will see a huge progression over a short time. So I hope he keeps up the hard work and somehow fixes his sweat problem soon hahahaha jk !

πøøß $†∑∑Z – Chase LaRue

Chase LaRue Fixed from steven jensen on Vimeo.

After watching this video there is not much more to say except this 17 year old kid Chase LaRue is truly gifted. Steven Jensen posted this video up saying that after only a week Chase has been able to throw truckdrivers with ease. That is incredible just in itself because there is not many people that can throws trucks as it is including pros. I really hope Chase keeps on riding because it this pace he is going to be better than any rider out there.

KIDICAL MASS from The Workshop LB on Vimeo.

I have always loved going to Critical Mass bike rides but when I got a chance to help out with a local “Kidical Mass” ride in my community of Long Beach, Ca. I could not help but want to get involved with a awesome event like this for kids. I must give a special thank you to one of the MASHAFIX.com sponsors that donated over $1000 in brand new bicycle HELMETS for these young kids. So from all the kids and parents you helped out and THE WORKSHOP LB we give a HUGE THANK YOU to PRO-TEC HELMETS.

The Workshop LB would like to give a special thanks to PRO-TEC for donating over $1000 in helmets to help keep these young riders safe. PRO-TEC.net

On Sunday August 19, 2012 a large group of parents and their children got together at Los Cerritos Park which is located in Bixby Knolls, Ca.(long beach). This was not just any ordinary bicycle ride. In fact, this is something very special that is put on every month to help young bicycle riders learn to ride as a group while also learning all of the laws of the road to help keep them safe. Kids from all ages showed up on this particular Sunday afternoon to take part in this group bike ride. The Workshop LB has been taking part in this event by offering free bike tune ups and maintenance tips to all parents and kids that come out to Kidical Mass, but this time was even more special because PRO-TEC Helmets has teamed up with The Workshop LB and Mashafix.com to provide free helmets to these young riders. PRO-TEC believes in tradition and so many many adults have grown up wearing PRO-TEC helmets that it is why we pass along this tradition to the kids that come out for this event. We encourage anyone in the LA County and Long Beach, Ca. area to come out and take part in Kidical Mass. If you would like more information on Kidical Mass in Bixby Knolls, Ca. please visit bixbyknollsinfo.com/kidicalmass.html or call 1-(562)-595-0081

PRODUCT REVIEW // FAMLI STRAPS los angeles

I think the first thing that stood out to me with the STRAPS was the color purple. I have yet to see very many companies use such a deep color purple like FAMLI STRAPS does. Besides that I like how the straps are reinforced with metal at the ends of the straps to keep them from fraying over time. The straps are also fairly stiff yet not to stiff so for some it may be a more comfortable strap for everyday use as well as tricking. After 2 weeks of vigorous testing these straps look pretty good for the abuse they were put threw. So if you are looking for a good Fixed Freestyle strap that is not only affordable but comes in many different color options then I suggest you check these out. I will have them down at THE WORKSHOP LB on display for a few days so if you are in the area be sure to come by and check them out…. and did I mention they are HAND MADE RIGHT HERE IN LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA !

The top tube pad is definitely longer than most top tube pads I have seen or have used before. For those of you that are doing tricks this is definitely going to cover the entire top tube so if you are looking for a new top tube pad FAMLI STRAPS has got you covered their and they have many different color options to choose from as well.

The HIP POUCH is very spacious and also has a hidden pocket built in that if there was not a note attached to the hip pouch when they sent it to me I would have never found it hahahahah ! Besides the secret pocket I really like that this bag has plenty of space to fit all my tools, tube, and bike pump for when I want to go for a ride and not have to lug around a huge bag. One thing I noticed about this pouch was that it did not have a U-Lock holster built in to it as many other hip pouches on the mark have built in. However despite this I could really care lees because the size of the pouch makes up for that and I have always been one to put my U-Lock in my belt as I ride.

FIXIE FACTORY // garage sale

So if you missed out on yesterdays garage sale at the Fixie Factory in downtown Long Beach, Ca. then you missed out on some great deals and some good times. I stopped by the sale while I was downtown yesterday afternoon and saw bikes piled high on the front porch of the Fixie Factory with kids all over swapping parts and installing new parts and accessories on their bikes. I myself swooped up a new UNKNOWN BIKE CO. hat and some WOLF DRAWN stickers and patches. I hope they have more sales like this because it is great for the community and gives kids a chance to buy parts they could normally not afford when at regular price.
